MANILA, Philippines – President Aquino encourages the public to report incidents of public fund misuse to the website of the Department of Finance.

The website http://perangbayan. com/index.php will entertain information relevant to graft, improper action, negligence, lavish lifestyle and other supposedly anomalous practices of civil servants. It will likewise receive reports of exemplary performance.

In his speech keynoting the ground breaking ceremonies for the new manufacturing plant of Nestlé Philippines in Tanauan, Batangas, yesterday Mr. Aquino said the Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Bureau of Customs would file “highly visible” corruption cases every other week.

Mr. Aquino made the announcement as he led groundbreaking rites for food giant Nestlé Corp.’s fifth factory in the country.

To rise on the 27-hectare lot within the First Philippine Industrial Park in Tanauan is a new P4.3-billion factory with a workforce of 170. Nestlé Philippines is chaired by John Miller, also its chief executive officer.

“Our burgeoning manufacturing industry, which in 2010 contributed P83 billion to our gross national product, owes a great deal to your efforts,” Mr. Aquino said.

Mr. Aquino noted that the manufacturing industry in the country employs three million workers, eight percent of the country’s total labor force.

“Slowly but surely, companies such as yours have contributed to the success story that we want our national experience to be. I am hopeful that you will continue with your operations, and I pray for your further success,” he said.

Mr. Aquino said the new investment shows renewed business confidence in the Philippines. – With Delon Porcalla
