Ai Ai emotional over MMFF best actress victory

MANILA, Philippines - Comedy Queen Ai Ai delas Alas on Sunday thanked God after she won the best actress trophy in the 36th Metro Manila Film Festival on Sunday.

The actress said that she never expected to win the trophy. She said the award is the most beautiful Christmas gift she received.

"Alam mo hindi namin ito ini-expect. Talagang sobrang pasabog ni Lord talaga. 'Yong parang 'wow God totoo ba itong nangyayari totoo ba ito lahat," delas Alas said after the awards night held at Meralco Theatre.

"Hindi kami makapaniwala. Tignan mo lahat kami ay hindi makapagsalita. Hindi ba last year Baler ang nanalo pero kami ang box office. So, ngayon sanay na kami. Dala-dala ko ang bag ko kasi gusto ko ng umuwi. Sabi ko uuwi na ako ayaw nila akong pauwiin sabi ko uuwi na ako kasi nakakahiya baka lahat manalo ako hindi," delas Alas shared.

The actress also shared her award to all the people behind her film "Ang Tanging Ina Mo, Last Na 'To" especially to its producer, ABS-CBN's movie outfit Star Cinema.

"So thank you Lord wala na akong masasabi pa kung hindi thank you at sa lahat ng manonood salamat po, sa lahat ng jurors ng MMFF salamat po. Salamat sa lahat ng taga-Star Cinema," she said.

The actress also thanked all her friends from showbiz who supported her.

"Kay Ate Vi (Batangas Governor Vilma Santos) and kay BFF Sharon Cuneta. Sa lahat ng taong nagdasal para sa akin," she said.

In the interview, delas Alas also reacted on reports saying that she doesn't deserve the Best Actress trophy.

"Siyempre ngayon proud akong sabihin na hindi kasi nila pwedeng sabihin 'yon dahil ang mga jurors natin bukod sa magagaling ay talagang hindi nababayaran kasi hindi lahat 'yon ay from the business. May mga tricyle driver, may mga nanay, may estudyante, may teacher. So masasabi mong in all walks of life ang jurors hindi lang from showbiz and matino na talaga ito parang ganoon," she said.

In the end, the actress appealed to all her critics to be happy for her newest achievement.

"Just be happy for me and ako din sorry sa mga hindi ko napasalamatan at congratulations sa mga co-nominees ko. Grabe sobrang pamasko ito, grabeng pamasko ni God at congratulations kay tito Dolphy," delas Alas said.
