MANILA, Philippines – The camp of Luis “El Demoledor” Perez is confident of victory over Filipino AJ “Bazooka” Banal in their encounter in “Pinoy Pride” on Saturday.

Mario Antonio Garcia Fonseca of Team Perez said during the event’s press conference in Cebu that Banal is “too small” for their fighter.

In a report by Philboxing.com, Fonseca also claimed that Banal’s sparring sessions with taller boxers will be useless against Perez.

“You wear heavier gloves in sparring. It's different inside the ring. Every boxer has to fight in the right category. That is why we have weight divisions,” he said.

Fonseca also said that unlike Filipino boxing hero Manny Pacquiao, Banal is not known in Nicaragua.

In response, Banal countered: “After this fight, I will be known over there.”

The 5’4” Banal will be up against the 5’5” Perez in a 10-round non-title fight in "Pinoy Pride."

The event, presented by ALA (Antonio L. Aldeguer) Promotions and ABS-CBN Sports, is set at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Cebu.

Also lined up to fight in Pinoy Pride are Mark Jason Melligen, Jason Pagara and Bon Jovi Canillas.

Melligen will fight Mexico’s Bladimir Hernandez while Pagara will take on Thai Sapapetch Sor Sakaorat.

Canillas will go up against veteran Ramie Laput.
